Message from the Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon on the International Day Elimination of Racial Discrimination 2011:
To defeat racism we must end public policy and private attitudes that perpetuate it. On this International Day, I appeal to Member States, international organizations and NGOs, media, civil society and all people to participate actively in promoting the International Year of African descent and jointly combat racism when and where it arises.
