Miguel Hernández: Impressions and memories.

Miguel Hernández
On October 30 the centenary of the birth of the poet Miguel Hernández. That is the reason that throughout the year 2010 have been going different tributes to the poet of Orihuela throughout our geography. We also have wanted to overlook this celebration and we have prepared our own tribute.

With the hall filled, as he deserved the chance, high school students sang and recited poems for their peers Miguel Hernández, accompanied by the voices and guitars of Jose Arroyo and Juan Antonio Verdi, teachers center. A moving and intimate act, once again, fills us with pride and satisfaction and worth all the effort.

Jose Arroyo, host of the event, also wanted her to leave us here impressions and memories of Miguel Hernández.

Miguel Hernández: impressions and memories.
By Jose Arroyo, a professor of Literature at IES La Caleta

the mid-seventies of last century, when I was a young student of COU, I got to know the poet's work Orihuela. I walked up to her, as I have been to many other important things in my life, my love of singing. I was a fan, I still am a singer- Catalan Joan Manuel Serrat called, whose career seemed commendable human and that I was dazzled with two discs: one of 1969 dedicated to the poet Antonio Machado, and another entitled Mediterranean.

Although a good reader, was not the genre of poetry more attraction exerted on me. At that time, I had read some of the work of Don Antonio - not in vain, albeit superficial, it was common object of study in class - but not his poetry definitely caught me until I heard the album mentioned. Hernandez's case was different: I had never spoken, or in class or any other place, the figure of Miguel.

Serrat Hearing the disc - and chanting, "I began to recognize the voice honest and caring, love and hurt the young poet. Poet who sings for the freedom of man, to declare their feelings of love, to express sorrow for the suffering of the child, to mourn the loss of friend or denounce the miserable existence of the child who works as a beast. And her voice always sounds sincere, firm and powerful.

So I got closer to his books and his life. I knew the poems of Perito en lunas, of The ray does not stop, of wind people and Song and Ballad of absences. course, not everyone liked me, nor all the same size. Some have been printed for good, honest, in my memory, others fragmented. But in all, even those who do not like, I recognize the personal voice of Hernandez and his strong attachment to nature, to earth. Therefore, also never forget those words that gave him his friend and master Pablo Neruda and I portray his figure and his poetry as a snapshot, " With that face Miguel potato has just taken of the earth."

Literary Contest Awards II "The Cove also reads"

Although we have some time without reporting on this blog of the activities of the Library of IES La Caleta is not to say it has not been produced or that have stopped working, all otherwise. Here we are, once again, with renewed spirits, with the same enthusiasm and excitement, and with some new additions to the team from our library. So we are continuing to blog today and we will not stop.

The first satisfaction that we get has been the publication of the winning stories in our II Literary Contest. It is, as can not be otherwise by the resources of a small school like ours, a modest but worthy publication, made with great effort and enthusiasm and, above all, willing to make known the talent of these young writers today present.

In the foreword to this edition, José Manuel Benítez Ariza us explaining that these literary creations

is written to understand the world and to understand each one, and need to write to achieve these two things because, without writing it ordered and fixed, the thought often becomes entangled in its own intricacies and not getting anywhere [...]

Although this is not the case of young writers gathered here. Among his writings is a poem torn, a real cry of pain and indignation, is an ironic story in which a vampire first-person account of their intimacy, there is a serious attempt to penetrate the mind of an abuser of women, there is a documented semblance of a major figure in the struggle for effective extension of human rights. After writing these texts, their authors know better the world and themselves. And they have helped to extend this knowledge so hard won others. You have to applaud them for it. And encourage them to persist.

course we joined the well-deserved applause and work and on the publication of the winning stories in the Literary Contest III. Library of Caleta you can find this issue and enjoy reading these stories, as well as those who were winners in the first edition. Both of those, though short, has been distributed between different sites of the city and the province, so it is also possible to find in their libraries.
