World Book Day

The Mexican poet José Emilio Pacheco

The celebration of April 23 as World Book Day is not a random choice. A April 23, 1616, by coincidences of fate, killed three great writers of world literature, Miguel de Cervantes, William Shakespeare and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega . It is, therefore, a date for a strong symbolic character, which is reinforced because an April 23 were born or died other important writers such as Vladimir Nabokov , Maurice Druon, Halldor K. Laxness, Josep Pla or Manuel Mejia Vallejo .

is also the great day of English literature, as it delivers the Cervantes Prize, the most important letters in our language, this year has fallen on the Mexican poet José Emilio Pacheco of whom can read a brief biography and some of his poems on the link above.

For our part, we did not want to miss this opportunity to recall at this time one of our great writers, Miguel Delibes , who died recently, and received the award earlier in the year 1994. We have prepared a modest booth at the entrance to our institute with works by Delibes that you can find in our library, and a mural with some of their selected pages, we hope you will encourage and invite their works known to those who still not to experience.

Javier knows the literary world because he works in a bookstore, because it reads a lot and it is documented very well to write his historical novels. So much so that at times has come to find historical documents and bibliographical interest.

Our writer explained to the students' sources of inspiration and, above all, and is welcome, encouraged reading and writing as a source of aesthetic pleasure, asking them not to lose heart in the difficult task of a possible publication.
